D'Amico firms up LR1 LOI

D’Amico International Shipping has firmed up a letter of intent for two long-range product tankers from Hyundai Mipo’s Hyundai-Vinashin shipyard in Vietnam. The 75,000 dwt ships are understood to have been priced at USD44 million per vessel with delivery booked for mid-2017. The contract was placed by d’Amico’s operating subsidiary, d’Amico Tankers Ltd Ireland. D’Amico International’s fleet presently comprises 52.8 handysize and MR tankers, with 23.3 being owned and 29.5 being chartered in. This latest order takes its orderbook up to 10 vessels, all being built by Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard, comprising eight MR2 tankers in addition to the latest LR1 pair.
